CUBA TOUR: STUDENTS, EDUCATORS AND OTHERS GET READY: NEXT TRIP THIS JULY

Newark, New Jersey- A group of students, educators and professionals are getting ready to

undertake their first visit to the Island of Cuba. The visit to Cuba will take place February 1-8,

2012. The trip is being hosted by The Latino Institute, a private nonprofit statewide educational

organization, based in Newark.

“We are very exited as a substantial number of college students, members of our Latino Scholars

program, have joined us for this trip. The students are indeed very motivated to visit educational

institutions in Cuba and compare their educational system with others in the world.

This is a unique opportunity for travelers to be ahead of the curve, as Cuba-U.S. relations

improve in the future. It is also the correct time to visit the old Cuba before modern life and the

nuisances of technology catch up with the status quo,” explained Carmen Torres, tour

coordinator for the Institute.

This visit is part of the new person-to-person cultural and education program approved by the

federal government via legal licensees for Cuba travel, which allows American Citizens a legal

opportunity to visit this Caribbean country.

The excursion will consists of seven (7) nights and eight (8) days visiting Old Havana, museums,

cultural performances, and historic Pinar del Rio. The trip includes cultural and educational

exchanges/networking at schools and universities, including visits to the University of Havana

and the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM).  In addition, the group will be meeting

with Cuban jurists to discuss their legal system.

Additional outings include the Parque Metropolitano of Havana, a medical clinic, a local

elementary school and a boat ride through the Cave of the Indian at rural Pinar del Rio.

The tour package includes all transfers while in Cuba, all-inclusive arrangements at the historic

Hotel Nacional, a 5-Star hotel which includes all meals. The tour also includes escorted

sightseeing and extensive daily activities from morning to night. The package also includes all

entrance fees to scheduled activities and events, travel health insurance, emergency medical

evacuation and 24-hour emergency service hotline.

Travelers will leave from Miami on a direct charter flight to Havana on Wednesday, February 1st.

The next Cuba Education Tour trip is scheduled for July 11th, 2012, and is dedicated to the

provision of a unique summer experience for teachers, principals and other educators.

“We hope to attract a large contingent of teachers in July, and we ask those interested to call us

as soon as possible, as the summer months will be quite busy,” added Ms. Torres.

Interested persons can access additional information and the registration form for the July trip by

visiting the Institute’s web site at www.latinoinstitute.net  or by calling Ms. Torres

at 973-273-0273.
